    [ISS] Just as it is impossible to describe 'Africa' in a single word, or to visit 'Africa' in a single trip - Africa is not a country, as foreigners so often have to be reminded - it is difficult to sum up a whole year in the life of this continent without resorting to sweeping generalisations.
